The Wow starts now

The Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas officially kicks off our countdown to the general availability (GA) of Windows Vista on 30th January.  In other words, the "Wow” starts now -- check out our updated WindowsVista.com website.

We're asking folks to come and show us your "wow" at ShowUsYourWow.com.  That's right -- ShowUsYourWow.com is a showcase of art, music, photos and videos made by you on the PC using Windows Vista.  You might even catch some stuff made by celebrities, too, so keep an eye open ....

Why not show us your Wow now ?

Why or why does Australia get left out of the WOWSTARTSNOW contest... aren't we cool enough to play?

mrmckeb: I'm not an employee of Microsoft or anything, but competitions are under tight regulations in Canada and this may apply to Australia too. It's difficult for an international company to create a competition which operates legally in many countries.

Dear Microsoft: the contest "submit" page does not work in Firefox with Adblock Plus. (I get the header and footer graphics with blank space in between.)

I am waiting to be Wowed.  I have RTM, lots of good stuff, good icons, love the new task bar/startmenu, etc.  But, hopefully by RTM MS will have some updates that just fix some issues for users who are not blind.  Window's mail is ugly and hard to read with that dumb blue bar at the top, way too bright, looks terrible.  All the apps have major consistency issues.  Toolbars don’t need to be different colors, they don’t need to be different heights.  Clean it up!!!

Also, changing the color scheme is useless when the tool bar colors don’t change with it, I mean this across the board.  Also, why is it that the active window always has a neon blue outline no matter what color I have my appearance set to?  The background window changes, but not the active?  This is REALLY basic newbie stuff.  Just open your eyes, and start writing down.  I would love to see Vista become a vision of beauty, not the collage it is now.

The office team can do this, the xbox team can do this, that fruit company can do this in their sleep, fix fix fix!!!!

RC1 has seen good improvement. Launch seminars provided a lot of useful info. Hope the real product can get me excited

Small note:  the "Loading" message of the http://www.showusyourwow.com/flash.aspx?l=fr-fr Windows Flip contains a mistake in french : "Chargement en cour" : "courS" takes a "S" at the end.

Good Read. The question I have is should i wait to buy a PC or should I buy one now and then upgrade? I want to have the best Vista experience so this is confusing to me.

I submitted to Show Us Your Wow.  But if Vista behaves like the little window on the Show Us Your wow site, I'm surprised.  I submitted a portrait mode shot, and it's squished.  If that's how people are going to view my wow, I want to delete my submission, but there's no contact address for the contest.

Personally, since part of the contest is to wow us with Vista's 3d image browsing, I would think Microsoft would want to fix that.  (Mine wasn't the only shot I saw there that was vertically compressed, aka Squished.

Take a look and you'll see what I mean.  Who can I contact to unsubmit if MS isn't going to fix that?   (Also, never entered a contest where there was no contact address.  Maybe I'll submit a wow with a picture of a message to the admins?)

Ohh what about New Zealand, are we having in competition.

I also have a question about the contest. I have registered my .Net passport account in when in Singapore and now I am residing in China whihc one of the qualifying countries. But after I have submitted my photos I searched for all China submissions and couldn't find my pics. So does this mean that my pics will be disqualified? Do I need to signup for a new .net passport account to enter the competition?

    Thanks for your reply.....
