Hands-on with Certified for Windows Vista Devices

I've got a couple of reviews on some Certified for Windows Vista devices I'd like to highlight from some friends of mine.

DCVIEWS has published its review of the Nikon D40x. The D40x is Nikon's consumer friendly DSLR (digital single-lens reflex) digital camera with quite a punch. I own the original Nikon D40 (no "x") which is still impressive even for a first release. The Nikon D40x takes 10 megapixel photos while my D40 takes only 6 megapixel photos. The D40x also offers taking photos at a higher resolution that my D40. Read the review from DCVIEWS for a more detailed analysis of the Nikon D40x. You can also head over to Nikon's D40x website to check out the feature and tech specs on the camera.

Andre Da Costa has a pretty extensive review on the Microsoft Wireless Entertainment Desktop 7000 keyboard and mouse. Andre notes the Wireless Entertainment Desktop 7000's tight integration with Windows Vista specifically with Windows Media Center.  The Wireless Entertainment Desktop 7000 essentially gives you a huge step-up from the Remote Keyboard for Windows XP Media Center Edition in its design for use with Windows Media Center. I own both keyboards and the Wireless Entertainment Desktop 7000 is just amazing.

Two great reviews on two great devices.

I am still mesmerized by this keyboard and mouse combination Brandon. Its the best, I love the tight integration not only with Vista but with popular programs like Microsoft Word and Windows Live programs. Its the most customizable keyboard I have ever used. Definitely worth getting if you use Vista Home Premium or Ultimate.

The Ms 4000 has more options than the 7000 for the hardcore workhorse. I think its the best all desktop keyboard. I most recently got the 7000 about 2 months ago and i love it. I have lcd tv hookup desk lcd and ultamate. Took a huge footprint off my desktop. I saw the backlit MIGHT wait for the next one. Love the backlit option but waiting for a bit more to change maybe. Im now in the market for a digi cam so ill give that a read.

You have mentioned two pieces of hardware that is compatible with vista, but what I would like to see some information on is the tv tuners that are compatible with vista.  Heck, I have been to the Microsoft vista compatible hardware site and I cannot see any tv tuners listed there, just video and demos describing what a compatible tv tuner can do (such as record with the computer turned off).  But my current tv tuner (happauge 350) is supported but not fully compatible with my vista ultimate.

Edward,

You can check out this pretty slick site for Windows Vista-compatible TV Tuners from Hauppauge here:

http://www.hauppauge.com/pages/support/vista.html

AMD has a site dedicated to Windows Vista specifically here:

http://ati.amd.com/technology/windowsvista/index.html

Hope this might help a little bit.
